About Turkey Travel Forum

An independent place to ask and answer questions about travelling in Türkiye. Not a travel agency, not a booking site.

What this is

Turkey Travel Forum is a community forum. Travellers ask about Istanbul, Cappadocia, the coast, visas, transport, food, safety and budgets; other travellers and locals answer from first-hand experience. Good answers get upvoted and can be marked as accepted by the person who asked, so the most useful information rises to the top.

History

The site started in 2024 as a knowledge base: a set of editorial guides written in a question-and-answer style, with no accounts and no way to reply. Readers kept emailing follow-up questions, which made it obvious that a static site was the wrong shape.

In 2026it was relaunched as a real forum with accounts, replies, voting and moderation. The original guides are still here, marked as “guides”, and are gradually being updated by members. Anything that reads like a review or a recommendation on this site was written by a named member; we don't publish fake members, fake counts or fake reviews.

How it's funded

Currently: it isn't. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsored posts. Hosting and email are paid for out of pocket by the operator. If that changes we will say so on this page and in the privacy policybefore anything goes live, and members' recommendations will never be influenced by it. Members are not allowed to post affiliate links either — see the guidelines.

Who runs it

The forum is operated from Türkiyeby a small team who travel in and write about Türkiye. Posts by the team carry an “Editorial team” badge. Moderators are volunteers chosen from active members. Nobody involved works for a tour company, hotel or airline; if that ever changes for a team member, their posts will say so.

Accuracy

Members post from their own experience and prices, rules and schedules in Türkiye change often. Always confirm visa and entry rules with official sources (your country's foreign ministry and the Turkish e-Visa site), and treat any price as a snapshot from the date of the post.
